Community Gigging Tournament Fundraiser to Benefit Local Combat Veterans

Event Overview

The members of CVMA® MO 4-10 would like to help spread the word about a community fundraiser being organized by our friends Darrin and Penny Treadway and their family to benefit combat veterans in our area. On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Treadways will host a Combat Veterans Fundraiser and Gigging Tournament in Van Buren, Missouri. All proceeds from the event are designated to benefit local combat veterans. The centerpiece of the fundraiser will be a gigging tournament on the Current River, with competitors vying for the title of King and Queen Gigger of Current River. Registration begins at 2:00 PM at the Historic Old Courthouse in Van Buren. Entry is $50 per boat, with a maximum of four people per boat. Tournament winners will receive a unique yellow sucker wood-carved trophy bearing their names and the date. The trophy will then be displayed at Mables Restaurant for the following year. In addition to the tournament, the fundraiser will include a fish fry, silent auction, live music, bonfire, and hot chocolate, cider and snacks from Kloie's Cafe. We appreciate the Treadways and everyone who is donating their time, resources and effort to support combat veterans in our local communities. Community support such as this helps further the shared goal of taking care of the men and women who have served our country.
